Privacy Policy

This policy describes the visitor information collected through Clinton County Court Docket, how that information is used, and when it may be shared. By using this private reference resource, you accept the practices described here.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

When a name or case number is entered in a search tool, the query is sent to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query under its own practices. Clinton County Court Docket does not store or log those submitted search terms on its own systems.

Messages and Contact Submissions

If an email is sent to this resource, the message may be retained so it can be answered. It is kept within the organization unless disclosure is required by law.

Data We Gather Automatically

When a page loads, the hosting and analytics systems may receive routine technical details about the visit:

  • The IP address assigned to the device.
  • The browser and browser version in use.
  • Device type and operating system.
  • Pages viewed and the time spent on each page.
  • The referring website, when one is available.
  • Date and time information associated with the page view.

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files placed on a device that can help measure traffic and understand how visitors use the resource. Analytics services may aggregate those measurements. Browser settings can block cookies, although some features may then work differently.

What We Do With This Data

  • Operate, secure, and improve the resource.
  • Send a submitted search request to the applicable partner service.
  • Assess which reference pages receive use and need maintenance.
  • Diagnose performance and technical problems.
  • Display advertising that may be relevant to a visitor.

No Court-Record Data on File

Clinton County Court Docket does not host, compile, maintain, or sell a database of court dockets or personal case records. It publishes general routing information for the Clinton County Clerk / Clerk of the Circuit Court, 65A District Court, Probate Court, and MiCOURT Case Search. Michigan court-file access is governed by MCR 8.119; MCR 1.109 addresses electronic filing and official record treatment. Those rules, rather than this resource, control court-file access. It is not a consumer reporting agency, and visitor information is not assembled into consumer reports about other people.

Third-Party Search Partners

Search boxes use outside providers. Information entered in those tools is governed by the provider's privacy policy rather than this one. Providers set their own retention and sharing practices, and Clinton County Court Docket does not control them. Review the provider's policy before submitting a search.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to the Clinton County Clerk, 29th Judicial Circuit Court, 65A District Court, MiCOURT Case Search, MiFILE, or other external services. Once a visitor leaves this resource, the destination's privacy policy and terms govern that visit.

Advertising partners may measure activity across websites to deliver advertising. That activity occurs on their systems, not on the court-record systems identified by this resource.

Who Might See Your Data

Personal data is not sold. Limited information can be available to:

  • Search partners that process a query entered through their tool.
  • Analytics services used to measure traffic and performance.
  • Advertising networks that place advertising on the pages.
  • Government or law-enforcement bodies when a valid legal requirement calls for disclosure.

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable security practices are used to protect information collected by the resource. No internet-connected system can promise complete security, so a breach or interruption cannot be ruled out.

Users Under 18

This resource is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from people under 18. If a minor's personal information is believed to have been submitted, it may be removed after the matter is brought to the resource's attention.

Your Data Rights

Subject to applicable law and identity verification, a visitor may ask what personal information is held, seek correction of inaccurate information, request deletion where appropriate, or object to certain processing. Michigan court-file access follows separate rules. MCL 15.231 et seq. is Michigan's FOIA starting point, but the judiciary and court case records are excluded from that public-body route. For a court file, use MCR 8.119 and the appropriate Clinton County clerk process instead.

  • Request a copy of personal information held about the requester.
  • Seek correction of information that is inaccurate.
  • Request deletion where an applicable rule requires it.
  • Object to certain processing when a legal right applies.

Updates to This Policy

This policy may be revised as operations or applicable requirements change. The current version appears on this page with its effective date.
